Palmdale Fire
Earlier this week, firefighters battled two wildfires that hit Southern California. The first fire known as the Bull Fire, hit the southeast part of Tehachapi. Authorities confirmed that the Bull Fire is now 12 percent contained and destroyed more than 16,000 acres. The second fire was in the northern part of Tehachapi in Sequoia National Forest and is known as the West Fire. It burned and destroyed 25 homes.
Spokeswoman Michelle Puckett of the U.S. Bureau of Land warned residents to keep their cars and house windows closed to prevent smoke inhalation.

Freegan
While I'm not willing to become a freegan, and while I don't go out of my way to pick up stuff off the side of the road, I have done it once or twice. Once I was passing someone who'd had a garage sale the day earlier and was tossing some of the stuff that didn't sell. One of the items was a perfectly good toddler booster seat that would run at a minimum of $40 at a store. I saw it, swooped it up, took it home and cleaned it up. I'm still using it to this day. I also found a good high chair once that I picked up for a friend.
I have friends that purposely troll around looking for "good stuff" thrown out to pick up.
What's the best free thing you've ever found on the side of the road?
Would you be willing to "garbage pick" something that you might be able to use or would you rather be caught dead?

Anna Fermanova
Fermanova, a 24-year-old cosmetology student, allegedly violated the Arms Export Control Act after attempting to take $15,000 worth of high-tech equipment without proper export licenses to Russia, according to CNN.
Fermanova was allowed to complete her trip to Moscow, but was arrested after her return to suburban Plano, Texas. She was released the next day on $50,000 bail.
“Fermanova stated that she had purchased the scopes online,” an affidavit pertaining to her arrest warrant read.
When questioned about the federal regulations related to night-vision equipment, Fermanova told Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents that she had “signed something about that” but was unsure of “what she was signing,” according to the affadavit.
Scott Palmer, Fermanova’s attorney in Dallas, maintains that his client was not involved in espionage.
"There's no terrorist connection," Palmer told CNN. "She is not a spy. The items were intended to be sold to a family friend for hunting purposes."
Fermanova – who will be arraigned in New York, where the equipment was confiscated – intends to plead not guilty, Palmer said.
Palmer will not rule out the possibility of negotiating a plea with the government, he said.

Lance Kerwin
Kerwin, who played the title role in "James at 15" on NBC in the 1977-78 season, was given credit during last Thursday's sentencing for 90 days served and ordered to perform 300 hours of community service for the second-degree theft charge.
Kauai County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Lauren McDowell says the 49-year-old Kerwin was caught falsifying documents to obtain state medical assistance and food stamps.
Defense attorney Craig De Costa says when Kerwin applied for the benefits, he omitted in the application that he owned three properties on the mainland.
Kerwin, a pastor at Calvary Chapel in Kapaa and a U-Turn for Christ program leader, said he has already paid $21,822 in restitution.
"I'm sorry," Kerwin said before being sentenced. "The last thing I want to do is to make a statement to minimize what I have done."
Kerwin said his actions affected the community, his fellow church members and his children, and added he hoped his punishment can have a positive effect in his life.
His wife, Yvonne Kerwin, 28, requested a deferred acceptance of her guilty plea for second-degree theft and two counts of unsworn falsification to authorities. She left court with a record that will remain clean if she stays out of trouble with the law. She will also have to pay crime victim compensation fees and complete 300 hours of community service.

Adam Housley
“Adam proposed to Tamera last week in Italy,” a source close to the couple tells E! News. “They were engaged a few years ago, but broke it off. They have been dating on and off for the past year and now he has put a ring on her finger once again.”
Apparently her family doesn’t like him. “Her family is not crazy about him,” the source says. “Tia and Adam don’t always get along, but the couple are happy together and giving it another try.”
They are getting ready to move in together. “They haven’t started planning the wedding but it will most likely be at his family’s vineyard in Napa.”
That’s got to be hard when your twin does not get along with you fiance. Wish them luck.

Puma Punku
The current discovery is of a site in Bolivia that overmuch seems like a component part of an ancient temple. The area termed by the archeologists as the Puma Punku, contains so many of a stone structures that startles the today’s human being as to how come these stones can be arranged up in such a way in those ancient times.
The Puma Punku discovery is certainly a big one, as well as the most shocking thing about the stone structures that have n=been found in the Puma Punku is that they have been cut as well as shaped up in so much of a precise and accurate manner that we are kept astounded, as their was no such tools for achieving this were available in those times.
The Puma Punku discovery according to the archeologists, is a great one as they have uncovered a civilization that existed as per to them around seventeen thousand yrs ago and they at that time had got that sort of a preciseness, which currently can only be achieved by some really smart computer cutting devices.
Another fact that haunts the archeologists about the stones of Puma Punku is that how come that have been transported from the lake area to the place where they existed now. Well, we can only say that time will tell.

Tantra Sexuality
The Tantra provide a sexual energy can be used to benefit health and reach enlightenment, Tantrism has influenced the Hindu, Sikh, Bon, Buddhist, and Jain religious traditions. Tantra in its various forms has existed in India, Nepal, China, Japan, Tibet, Korea, Cambodia, Burma, Indonesia and Mongolia.
Sexual rites of Vamamarga may have emerged from early Hindu Tantra as a practical means of catalyzing biochemical transformations in the body to facilitate heightened states of awareness. These constitute a vital offering to Tantric deities. Sexual rites may have also evolved from clan initiation ceremonies involving transactions of sexual fluids.
Here the male initiate is inseminated or ensanguinated with the sexual emissions of the female consort, sometimes admixed with the semen of the guru. The Tantrika is thus transformed into a son of the clan (kulaputra) through the grace of his consort. The clan fluid (kuladravya) or clan nectar (kulamrita) is conceived as flowing naturally from her womb. Later developments in the rite emphasize the primacy of bliss and divine union, which replace the more bodily connotations of earlier forms. Although popularly equated with Tantra in its entirety in the West, such sexual rites were historically practiced by a minority of sects. For many practicing lineages, these maithuna practices progressed into psychological symbolism.

Petraeus has Taken The Charge Of International Forces In Afghanistan
Afghanistan on Sunday, declaring "we are in this to win" despite rising casualties and
growing skepticism about the nearly 9-year-old war.
Petraeus received two flags — one for the U.S. and the other for NATO — marking his formal
assumption of command during a ceremony at NATO headquarters,.
He said it was important to demonstrate to the Afghan people and world that al-Qaida and its
extremist allies will not be allowed to once again establish sanctuaries in Afghanistan from
which to launch attacks on the United States and other countries.
"We are in this to win," Petraeus told a crowd of several hundred NATO and Afghan officials
at the ceremony at a grassy area just outside coalition headquarters. "We have arrived at a
critical moment."
Petraeus said the change in command did not signal a radical shift in McChrystal's strategy
of making the protection of the Afghan people the focus of the military mission.
"Recent months in Afghanistan have seen hard fighting," he said. "As we press on in our
vital mission, we must continue our efforts to reduce the loss of innocent civilians to an
absolute minimum."
But Petraeus said he would examine the civilian and military mission "to determine where
refinements might be needed."
In a message to his troops, Petraeus said he would "not hesitate to bring all assets to bear
to protect you and the Afghan forces with which you are fighting shoulder to shoulder."

Ahmadinejad Reaction On U.S New Sanctions
understand the Islamic Republic of Iran and "are aimed at preventing it from becoming an
industrial state. But Iran has mastered the art of overcoming hurdles and "nothing can stop
the progress of our industry.
This speech made by him on saturday was the first reaction of Iran on U.S new sanctions on
Iran. Last week, the U.S senate and House of Representatives approved the sanctions over
Iran nuclear program.
Tehran claims the program is for peaceful purposes, but the United States and other Western
nations fear Iran is attempting to develop a nuclear weapon.
The U.S. sanctions target companies that sell refined petroleum products to Iran and
international banks that do business with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard.
"It makes it harder for the Iranian government to purchase refined petroleum and the goods,
services and materials to modernize Iran's oil and natural gas sector," Obama said Thursday.
"It makes it harder for the Revolutionary Guards and banks that support Iran's nuclear
programs and terrorism to engage in international finance. It says to companies seeking
procurement contracts with the United States government, 'If you want to do business with
us, you first have to certify that you're not doing prohibited business with Iran.'"
But Ahmadinejad said Saturday that "threats, political pressure and Western sanctions" were
aimed at hindering Iran, Press TV reported.
"We are all part of one family and should endeavor for Iran's progress," he said. Iran does
not seek world dominance and its diplomacy does not aim to infringe on other nations'
rights, Ahmadinejad said, according to Press TV.
And he warned that "Iran will teach its enemies an unforgettable lesson" if they do not
correct their hostile attitudes, Press TV said.
He spoke at a ceremony marking National Industry and Mine Day. The main focus of his speech
was that Iran's industrial exports have reached $18 billion in the past four months -- a
figure that, Ahmadinejad pointed out, came despite sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran
News Network reported.
"Four years ago you sanctioned Iran and our industrial export was $6 billion. How much is it
now? It's $18 billion," Ahmadinejad said, according to Press TV. "I have faith in your
capabilities; I want to tell them again, do you want to sanction Iran again? I promise you
that this $18 billion will be $60 billion by the hands of people sitting here, and it will
be a slap in their face."
Press TV said the sanctions "are aimed at exerting additional pressure on Iran, targeting
its dependence on imported petroleum products. Tehran, however, has announced that sanctions
will put no pressure on the country since it has the ability to meet its energy demands,
should the need arise."
In addition, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, made remarks Saturday during a
meeting with staffers of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.
"The current era is a special one from a political perspective, and the great Iranian nation
will undoubtedly pass this difficult time," he said, according to Press TV. He also warned
against the "disgraceful lies" by Iran's enemies regarding democracy and human rights.

Rube Goldberg
A Rude Goldberg machine is usually a deliberately over-engineered project that uses a chain reaction of complex actions to actually perform a very simple task, like for example popping a balloon.
If you’re curious about its name, these type of machines are named after the American inventor and cartoonist Rube Goldberg.
Google’s special Rude Goldberg machine has a more patriotic theme and it celebrates the day when in 1776 the founding fathers adopted the Declaration of Independence.
This is not the first time the search giant uses animations or mini games on their home page. Back in May, when the classic Pac-Man game celebrated it’s 30th birthday, Google included a fully playable game that made tens of millions of users take a break from their regular work and give it a try.
